Archerfish belongs to the family Toxotidae and is known for their remarkable ability to shoot water jets to knock down insects. They are native to mangrove estuaries, brackish rivers, and coastal regions of Southeast Asia, New Guinea, and northern Australia.

Archerfish is also known as spinner fish, spitting fish, insect-eater, and banded archerfish. It is admired in the aquarium hobby for their interactive behaviour, silvery-to-banded appearance, and unique feeding style.
