Sixray Corydoras common health issues
Ich (White Spot Disease)
Ich looks like tiny white dots on the fish’s body and fins. The fish may rub against things or breathe fast. It happens due to poor water quality or stress. You can treat it by raising the water temperature slightly (within a safe range) and using safe aquarium medicine. Keep infected fish away from others until they recover.
Fungal Infections
Fungus looks like white cottony patches on skin or fins. It can start if the water is dirty or the fish is injured. The best way to help is to keep water very clean, use antifungal medicine, and remove affected fish or eggs if needed.
Barbel Injury
The Sixray Corydoras has delicate whiskers (barbels) used for feeling around. Sharp gravel or dirty water can hurt them. Once damaged, they may get infections. Always use soft sand, clean the tank often, and remove sharp decorations to prevent this.
Sixray Corydoras General Health Tips
- Keep the water clean and stable – no sudden temperature or pH changes.
- Change 20 to 30% of the water each week.
- Keep new fish separate prior to adding them to your tank.
- Look at signs that show illness or stress through hiding, not eating, and clamped fins.
- They will need open space. They should not be kept within an overcrowded tank.
