The Shih Tzu, also known as the ‘Lion Dog’ because of the mane of fur it has around the face, is a much-loved toy breed. The breed is catching up as the primary go-to as an apartment breed in India. It has an affectionate and playful personality, and most importantly, has minimum shedding.

According to the American Kennel Club, Shih Tzus are popular as small companion pets because they are easy to care for. However, their grooming needs to be paid special attention. 

Originating from Tibet and historically bred in China as imperial dogs, Shih Tzu dogs are known for their luxurious, flowing coat and sharp bark. Over time, Their friendliness and moderate exercise requirements have made them excellent companions for families and apartment living.
