The Pug is one of the most loved dog breeds. It is known for its playful and loving personality. According to the American Kennel Club, Pugs rank among the most popular small dog breeds in the world. Their distinctive appearance and sociable nature make them one of the top picks as apartment dogs in India. 

Known to have originated in China, Pugs were bred for companionship for Chinese royalty as they were prized for their loyal and loving demeanor. They were guarded by the soldiers too! Their compact size and easygoing temperament make them excellent family pets.

Pugs are characterized by their wrinkled face, curly tail, and smooth, fine coat in colors like fawn, black, and silver. However, a lot of special care is needed for their bulbous eyes and unique wrinkly skin to maintain their health and quality of life.  

Pugs are small dogs and their lifespan is between 12-15 years. They are considered Moderate-maintenance dogs, but despite that, their health needs to be looked after.
