Thor became the star attraction at the Pet Fed India event in Delhi, drawing attention not just for his imposing size but also for his extravagant lifestyle. This rare breed, also known as the Caucasian Ovcharka, is known for its strong, lion-like appearance. Despite its intimidating look, Thor is surprisingly gentle and friendly with humans.

Purchasing a dog like Thor is no small feat. The cost of a Caucasian Shepherd can range from Rs 8 lakh to 10 lakh — roughly the price of a Mahindra Bolero or a MG Astor. But it doesn’t stop there.

Maintaining this luxury-loving dog is just as costly. Thor's monthly upkeep costs Rs 50,000 to 60,000, which is equivalent to the monthly salary of the top 3% income earners in India. His maintenance includes premium dog food, chicken, and meat served three times a day.

A Life of Comfort and Care

Thor's lifestyle is nothing short of royal. He eats 250 grams of chicken daily, along with other protein-rich meals. In addition to his diet, his grooming needs are also top-tier.

Monthly expenses cover medical treatments, shampoos, and living arrangements. Summer is a particularly challenging season for Thor due to his thick coat, which is suited for colder climates.

To keep him comfortable, Vinayak ensures the dog has access to both an air conditioner and a cooler. He is also given cold water to drink and is bathed three times a day to beat the heat.

Thor’s journey to India is as impressive as his lifestyle. Vinayak revealed that Thor was brought from the U.S. as part of a larger family of Caucasian Shepherds. Weighing 72 kg and standing 75 cm tall, Thor’s sheer size adds to his majestic aura.

While Thor is certainly living the high life, he isn’t the only luxury dog breed in India. Tibetan Mastiffs, Alaskan Malamutes, and Chow Chows are also known for their high price tags and lavish lifestyles.
